Precious Stones Magazine is always seeking smart, motivated students, recent graduates or even non-college level adults (all intern positions are for 18+ years of age) who want to learn

about publishing/magazines to fulfill our various unpaid internship positions. For all of our internships, the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines is crucial

. We are currently seeking interns to fill the following positions for the 2014:



Beauty Blogger Interns (This is a virtual position)

We are seeking beautynistas who are passionate about everything that is beauty.

Candidates must have a vast knowledge of the African American and multicultural beauty

industry as well as the latest trends for women ages 25-45 and teens 17-24

. This position may include product reviews and interviewing industry experts.

Local candidates may have opportunities to attend beauty events (responsible for own transportation/costs).

Entertainment/Lifestyle Journalist (This is a virtual position)

This is an exciting position for an outgoing, friendly individual who is a pop

culture junkie and loves meeting new people. You must have your pulse

on what is happening in entertainment (mainly African American) such as television,

radio, movies, and music. Must be willing to interview both local and non-local celebrities

in various industries via phone, in writing or in person. Local candidates may have

an opportunity to attend premieres, red carpet events, etc. (responsible for own transportation/costs).

Graphic Design Intern (This is a virtual position)


We are seeking a self-motivated and responsible individual to assist with

creative projects and administrative duties. The types of work may include but are

not limited to assisting with digital/ print layout and design, text editing, photo retouching,

promo/logo design, file management and website maintenance. The intern must be able

to take art direction and work independently. Qualified applicants must be familiar

with Adobe CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign), Microsoft Office 2010.

Applicant must also have knowledge of design and layout principals, understanding of online multimedia including web and email, personable, outgoing self-starter with ability to work on own, detail oriented and works to deadline.

On-Call Reporters


We are seeking reliable, outgoing, friendly and stylish on-call reporters who

are travel-ready (to all local areas) and can represent our magazine at various locales

and events. Conduct interesting interviews with outstanding individuals who are

making great strides within their communities, in business, and also in entertainment;

report on stylish events such as fashion shows and beauty launches; or be creative

and pitch a story idea of your own to the editor. Great position for models, freelance writers/journalists, bloggers, vloggers, etc.

Photographer and Videographer Interns


Every Photographer and Videographer needs a start. Are you looking to attend various


LIVE events in entertainment, fashion and beauty? Then start with us! We are seeking to add talented, reliable, committed, fun, and passionate individuals with a positive attitudes

and amazing personalities to our amazing team. You must have your own professional

equipment fully equipped with the obvious, (camera, video camera, microphone etc) and

ou must be responsible for your own transportation. The ideal candidate will be in

charge of sound, lighting and all camera operations. Previous related experience is preferred.

Social media Marketing Interns (This is a virtual position)


We are seeking social media interns to assist with our marketing efforts.

After learning our company vision and mission as well as our overall marketing objectives, interns will be expected to create compelling social campaigns that will increase reader engagement and subscriptions.


Interns are expected to have at least basic knowledge of social media (personal use),

although use on a business level is preferred. You must be able to assess and measure

how social media fits in with our business strategies and put plans into action

(with our direction) that will add value to our followers’ experience.


Interns will perform the following tasks:
Maintain our pages (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn and Google+)
Assess opportunities for creating new pages and profiles
Post blog posts from main website and blog
Increase follower participation through contests and giveaways
Tracking the growth and impact of social media on our business
Reply to comments and messages


Skills and Characteristics Needed:
Outgoing, positive and energetic attitude
A love for engaging with all types of people
Vast knowledge of various beauty & fashion topics, entertainment news and
current events
Knowledge of social media- Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Google+,
Pinterest, etc.
Strong reading, proofreading and editing skills
A desire to come up with fresh ideas on how to grow our online presence
Ability to use third party social media scheduling tools (HooteSuite)
Ability to deliver one message in various ways across multiple platforms
Willingness to post daily to each platform several times a day
